El rápido deshielo hizo que los ríos alcanzaran niveles récord y causó graves inundaciones en Rusia y Kazajstán. Se ha ordenado la evacuación de más de 100.000 personas.
Las aguas han desbordado asentamientos en varias regiones, incluidos los Montes Urales y Siberia. Las autoridades piden precaución y la evacuación inmediata de las zonas afectadas. En Orenburgo, el río Ural superó niveles críticos y llevó a las autoridades a emitir avisos de evacuación. Se están tomando medidas de emergencia, como reforzar las presas y los diques. La situación de las inundaciones sigue siendo difícil, ya que el nivel del agua sigue subiendo.
El presidente Putin y el presidente Tokayev de Kazajstán hablaron de la gravedad de la situación y declararon que partes importantes de ambos países se habían visto afectadas por las inundaciones.
