El Túnel de Base del Gotardo es el túnel ferroviario más largo del mundo. El lunes vuelve a abrirse después de más de un año.
El túnel se cerró el año pasado en agosto. Un tren de mercancías se estrella allí al romperse su rueda. Esto causa muchos daños. Es difícil reparar el túnel. Los trabajadores deben tener cuidado. Hace mucho calor dentro. Reparar el túnel cuesta 159 millones de euros. Es mucho más de lo que los expertos piensan al principio.
Cuando el túnel se cierra es difícil para los trenes de mercancías. Las empresas italianas tienen problemas. Este problema se agrava porque otra importante vía férrea entre Italia y Francia cierra al mismo tiempo.
