Reapertura del túnel de San Gotardo – nivel 2

El Túnel de Base del Gotardo, el túnel ferroviario más largo del mundo, reabrió el lunes, más de un año después de que un accidente ferroviario obligara a cerrarlo.
El pasado agosto, un tren de mercancías sufrió un accidente debido a la rotura de una rueda. Esto causó muchos daños en el túnel. Tras el accidente, los trabajadores tuvieron que retirar el tren y reparar el túnel, lo que resultó muy difícil debido a las altas temperaturas del interior. El coste total de la reparación del túnel fue de 159 millones de euros. El cierre causó grandes problemas al transporte ferroviario, sobre todo a las empresas italianas, porque tuvieron que encontrar nuevas rutas para sus trenes. Este accidente ocurrió justo antes de que se cerrara otra importante conexión ferroviaria entre Italia y Francia a causa de un corrimiento de tierras.
