Fatou es la gorila más vieja del mundo. Vive en el Zoo de Berlín y acaba de cumplir 68 años.
La mayoría de los gorilas en libertad sólo viven entre 30 y 40 años, por lo que Fatou es muy especial. Lleva 66 años viviendo en el zoo, al que llegó con dos años. Fatou es gorila occidental de llanura, un tipo de gorila que vive en algunas zonas de África. Estos gorilas están en peligro porque sus hogares en la naturaleza están desapareciendo. Fatou tiene algunos problemas con los brazos y las piernas. No puede enderezarlos del todo y tiene una enfermedad en las articulaciones llamada artrosis. Pero aún se siente bien. No tiene dientes, así que come alimentos blandos, como verduras y fruta cocidas. El zoo cuida muy bien de ella.
