Un marinero de Inglaterra intentaba amarrar su embarcación cuando golpeó accidentalmente el acelerador y fue arrojado por la borda. Cuando cayó al agua, ya había desenganchado la cuerda de seguridad y empujado la palanca del acelerador a máxima potencia.
La lancha, de seis metros de eslora, empezó a dar vueltas alrededor del muelle. Por suerte, un ciudadano la vio y dio la alarma. La tripulación de un bote salvavidas consiguió subir un cabo a la embarcación que daba vueltas, alcanzar la palanca del acelerador y reducir la velocidad. El propietario de la embarcación consiguió llegar a tierra sano y salvo y fue trasladado al hospital.
