Los juegos de terror y supervivencia como Resident Evil y Silent Hill siguen teniendo fuerza, incluso con los famosos juegos de acción a su alrededor.
En la Gamescom, los fans dijeron que les gustan estos juegos porque dan miedo, atmósfera e historias fuertes. Los desarrolladores dijeron que necesitan añadir nuevas ideas pero mantener vivo el espíritu del terror.
Silent Hill F traslada el juego al Japón de los años 60. Aporta una nueva cultura y se centra más en la mente que en la acción. La historia procede del escritor Ryukishi07, conocido por sus historias oscuras.
Resident Evil Requiem celebra los 30 años de la serie. Vuelve a mostrar Raccoon City, tiene mejores gráficos, dos formas de jugar (en primera y tercera persona) y una mujer normal llamada Grace como heroína. Los creadores quieren que el horror siga siendo el punto principal.
