Aeropuertos como el de Schiphol, en Ámsterdam, están utilizando nuevas tecnologías para ayudar con el equipaje y el desplazamiento de las personas. Están probando vehículos autoconducidos que pueden mover las maletas por sí solos.
Estos vehículos utilizan cámaras y sensores para ver lo que hay a su alrededor. Se detienen si hay algo en su camino o si una persona camina cerca de ellos. Es difícil incorporar estos vehículos a los aeropuertos, porque los aeropuertos están muy concurridos, con mucha gente y aviones.
El aeropuerto prueba las nuevas máquinas para asegurarse de que son seguras. Quieren tener aeropuertos en los que muchos vehículos se conduzcan solos para 2050. Esto llevará mucho tiempo porque los aeropuertos tienen muchas normas para mantener la seguridad de las personas. Aunque los coches autoconducidos estén en las carreteras, los aeropuertos necesitan pruebas más cuidadosas para mantener los vuelos a tiempo y evitar problemas.
