El presidente de Kenia, William Ruto, ha anunciado planes de evacuación para las zonas con riesgo de inundaciones o corrimientos de tierra tras las graves inundaciones que se cobraron al menos 169 vidas.
El ejército se ha movilizado para ayudar en las evacuaciones, especialmente en el Valle del Rift, al norte de Nairobi, donde el desbordamiento de un embalse arrasó casas y causó numerosas víctimas. Los equipos de rescate, incluidos la Cruz Roja y el Servicio Nacional de la Juventud, están utilizando excavadoras para retirar los escombros y buscan cadáveres en las orillas de los ríos.
