El ex piloto Pantelis Panteli elabora ahora el tradicional queso Halloumi de Chipre con leche de oveja. Lucha contra la industria que ahora prefiere utilizar leche de vaca.
La producción de Panteli de la marca ‘Kouella‘ no es demasiado grande, pero se ha hecho muy popular. El debate sobre los ingredientes del Halloumi provocó protestas entre los ganaderos y preocupaciones por la producción. Las autoridades tienen previsto retrasar el pleno cumplimiento de la normativa hasta 2029.
Algunos agricultores sostienen que es necesario elegir la leche adecuada para satisfacer los gustos internacionales, pero otros, como Panteli, prefieren mantener vivas las tradiciones.
