Dahbia Benkired, mujer argelina de 27 años, fue condenada a cadena perpetua sin libertad condicional por violar, torturar y matar a Lola Daviet, de 12 años, en París en 2022.
Es la primera vez en la historia de Francia que se impone tal condena a una mujer. Durante el juicio, Benkired no mostró ninguna emoción, ni siquiera cuando le mostraron fotos de su víctima. Los expertos afirmaron que no padecía ninguna enfermedad mental, pero la describieron como fría y carente de empatía. Se mostró indiferente cuando se le preguntó por el asesinato.
El crimen conmocionó a Francia e inició un debate político porque Benkired se encontraba ilegalmente en el país. El tribunal conoció su difícil pasado, que incluía violencia en la infancia, malos tratos y consumo de drogas, pero aun así el jurado la consideró plenamente responsable. La legislación francesa permite la revisión de este tipo de condenas al cabo de 30 años, pero sólo en condiciones muy estrictas. La familia de Lola expresó su profunda tristeza durante el veredicto y dijo que quería justicia para su hija.
