El Jueves Santo, también conocido como Jueves Santo, es una celebración muy inusual para algunos católicos varones de Filipinas.

Los fieles recorren las calles y se golpean con cadenas y látigos. Otros participantes les golpean con palos de madera mientras se tumban en el suelo y rezan. Los hombres creen que Dios les perdonará tras este doloroso ritual.

Algunas personas critican el ritual por ser antiguo y doloroso, y puede tener un mal impacto en la salud mental de la persona. La Iglesia también dice que no es necesario sufrir porque Cristo ya sufrió por la gente. Pero para muchos católicos filipinos, el ritual forma parte de lo que son.
