El seleccionador de Inglaterra, Gareth Southgate, ha dimitido tras su segunda derrota consecutiva en la final de la Eurocopa.
Inglaterra perdió por 2-1 ante España en Berlín, después de haber caído ante Italia en la tanda de penaltis tres años antes. Southgate, de 53 años, dirigió a Inglaterra durante 102 partidos a lo largo de ocho años. Anunció su dimisión, pero calificó de honor de su vida dirigir a la selección. Tras el partido, dijo que no era el momento de decidir sobre su futuro, pero ahora, ha decidido dimitir.
Southgate ha tenido un mandato exitoso, llegando a la semifinal del Mundial de 2018 y a dos finales de la Eurocopa. Sin embargo, recibió críticas por la actuación de Inglaterra en la Eurocopa 2024.
