Los mimos ayudan a los bebés – nivel 3

Durante más de 35 años, el Centro Médico de la Universidad Rush de Chicago (EE.UU.) ha ayudado a pacientes infantiles y a sus familias mediante un programa de mimos voluntarios.
Cuando las familias no están en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales (UCIN) del hospital, los voluntarios consuelan a los bebés con mimos. Las familias no pueden estar en el hospital todo el tiempo, pero los bebés tenían necesidades cuando se iban. El personal comprendió estas necesidades, y los mimos voluntarios ayudaron. Muchos de los voluntarios son padres cuyos hijos estuvieron antes en la UCIN. Tras recibir una amplia formación, utilizan sus experiencias y habilidades para proporcionar a otros padres una sensación de alivio y seguridad.
Los estudios demuestran que interacciones como abrazar, mecer, cantar, leer y hablar a los bebés reducen el estrés y el dolor, y mejoran su salud física general.
