Filipinas está molesta porque la guardia costera china levantó una barrera flotante en una parte del Mar de China Meridional.
Esta barrera impide a los pescadores filipinos ir allí y pescar. Los guardacostas filipinos y la Oficina de Pesca y Recursos Acuáticos están muy descontentos por ello y quieren proteger sus derechos en el mar. China reclama gran parte del Mar de China Meridional, pero éste se solapa con zonas que pertenecen a otros países, como Vietnam, Malasia, Brunei, Indonesia y Filipinas.
El Scarborough Shoal es el lugar donde se está produciendo esta disputa. China se hizo con su control en 2012. Permitieron a los pescadores filipinos volver allí, pero ahora las cosas vuelven a ponerse difíciles. Recientemente, funcionarios filipinos encontraron allí una gran barrera, y había barcos chinos cerca, lo que causó más problemas.
