A partir de febrero, el gobierno británico impedirá que los solicitantes de asilo utilicen taxis para la mayoría de las visitas médicas.
Un informe de la BBC afirma que algunas personas utilizan taxis para viajes muy largos. Una persona hace un viaje en taxi de 250 millas para ver a un médico. Le cuesta 600 libras. El gobierno se ocupa del problema. Dice que gasta unos 15,8 millones de libras al año en transporte para los solicitantes de asilo. Esto supone más de 18 millones de euros. Al prohibir los taxis, los funcionarios esperan ahorrar gran parte de este dinero. A partir de ahora, los solicitantes de asilo deberán utilizar el transporte público para las visitas normales. Las únicas personas que pueden seguir utilizando los taxis son las discapacitadas o las embarazadas.
