Los restauradores están reparando la Silla de la Coronación, en la que el rey Carlos será coronado en mayo.
El rey Eduardo I ordenó fabricar la silla en 1296. Trajo de Escocia la Piedra del Destino para incluirla en la silla. Desde entonces, casi todos los monarcas han sido coronados en la silla, incluidos el rey Enrique VIII, la reina Victoria e Isabel II, la propia madre de Carlos. La silla es el mueble más antiguo que la gente sigue utilizando para su propósito original.
La silla de roble tenía capas de oro y cristal de colores. Pero con el paso de los siglos, el oro empezó a descascarillarse. Es necesario volver a darle un aspecto nuevo y prepararla para la coronación de este año.
