Primer trasplante ocular del mundo – nivel 2

Unos cirujanos de Nueva York han realizado el primer trasplante de ojo completo en un ser humano. Se trata de un avance histórico.

Aaron James, veterano militar, se sometió a una operación que duró 21 horas. La operación formaba parte de un trasplante parcial de cara tras un accidente eléctrico en el trabajo. El ojo trasplantado no ayudó a Aaron a ver, pero muestra signos positivos de salud. El Dr. Eduardo Rodríguez afirmó que la operación fue un gran éxito y mencionó que la gente siempre pensó que una cirugía así no era posible.

Actualmente, el ojo trasplantado no se comunica con el cerebro, pero el éxito de la operación abre una nueva puerta a futuras posibilidades de ayudar a las personas a volver a ver.
