El domingo, 40 navegantes comenzaron la décima Vendée Globe, una regata en solitario alrededor del mundo.
Mucha gente se reunió en Les Sables-d’Olonne, Francia, para despedirse, entre ellos el patrón francés Jérémie Beyou, uno de los favoritos. Esta es la quinta Vendée Globe de Beyou, y espera ganar tras terminar tercero en 2016. Su equipo le ayudó a preparar cuidadosamente un barco con más de 100 kilos de comida y herramientas para que durara 80 días.
El nuevo barco de alta tecnología de Beyou es muy rápido, y su equipo ha trabajado durante años para prepararlo.
