El gobierno británico quiere que el cuidado de los niños sea más barato y animar a más mujeres a trabajar.

Antes del Brexit, las au pairs eran una buena opción. Ofrecían cuidado infantil barato y ayuda cuando se necesitaba. Además, los jóvenes podían aprender idiomas y conocer culturas diferentes. Pero el Brexit afectó al sector au pair. Algunas agencias dicen que el negocio bajó un 95%. Hay normas más estrictas para los ciudadanos europeos, así que las familias tienen menos opciones. Como las guarderías son caras, las mujeres trabajan menos para cuidar de sus hijos.

Antes del Brexit, había unas 90.000 au pairs en el Reino Unido y muchas procedían de Europa. Pero ahora, sólo algunas personas pueden ser au pairs, como las que tienen estatuto de asentado o preasentado o las personas de determinados países con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 30 años.
