En la capital japonesa, Tokio, los llamados microapartamentos son un lugar popular para que vivan los jóvenes.
Estos apartamentos tienen sólo nueve metros cuadrados y son muy sencillos. Hay muy pocas comodidades y muy poco espacio para guardar todo lo necesario. El alquiler mensual es de 380 a 610 dólares, y depende del lugar exacto de Tokio donde esté el apartamento.
Los microapartamentos son muy populares entre los jóvenes porque no tienen dinero suficiente para un apartamento más grande. Muchas personas vienen a vivir a Tokio desde otras ciudades y necesitan un lugar barato donde alojarse. Una ventaja es que los propietarios no suelen pedir fianza.
