TikTok es una popular aplicación de redes sociales desarrollada por la startup china ByteDance. Varias empresas prohibieron TikTok por completo o en los teléfonos del gobierno porque les preocupaba la seguridad nacional.

Muchos países criticaron los estrechos vínculos de TikTok con el gobierno chino y la forma en que TikTok trataba los datos de los usuarios.

El Reino Unido, Bélgica, Canadá, Escocia, el Parlamento Europeo y Nueva Zelanda prohibieron TikTok en los teléfonos gubernamentales porque podían contener información sensible. A los funcionarios les preocupa que el gobierno chino pueda obtener estos datos. Las autoridades estadounidenses pidieron a los propietarios de TikTok que diversificaran sus participaciones. Si no lo hacían, EEUU podría prohibir también TikTok.

Otros países que prohibieron TikTok son, por ejemplo, India y Pakistán. China dijo que prohibir TikTok no era justo.
