Los partidos de extrema derecha obtuvieron más votos en Holanda, Austria y Alemania, pero el Partido Popular Europeo (PPE), de centro-derecha, seguirá siendo el más numeroso en el Parlamento Europeo.
Es el partido de la presidenta de la Comisión Europea, Ursula von der Leyen, que quiere otro mandato. Prometió protegerse de las opiniones extremas, pero no descartó trabajar con la derecha dura durante su campaña.
El PPE seguirá siendo el grupo más numeroso, junto con los Demócrata-Cristianos alemanes y el Partido Popular español. Pero los votantes se están alejando de los partidos Verdes y acercándose al grupo de extrema derecha Identidad y Democracia. Este grupo incluye partidos más extremistas, a muchos de los cuales no les gusta la UE.
