Siria vuelve a la Liga Árabe – nivel 2

El presidente sirio, Bashar al-Assad, asistió a una cumbre de la Liga Árabe en Arabia Saudí.
El país tuvo que abandonar el bloque hace 12 años debido a las duras medidas adoptadas contra las protestas prodemocráticas. Assad esperaba que se iniciara una época de paz y cooperación en la región. Los críticos sostienen que su gobierno en Siria es débil, que partes del país escapan a su control y que millones de refugiados están en su contra. Arabia Saudí y Emiratos Árabes Unidos dejaron de apoyar a la oposición siria, pero Occidente sigue aplicando sanciones contra el régimen de Assad.
La cumbre pretende abordar los conflictos de Sudán y Yemen. Asimismo, el presidente ucraniano, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, asistió a la cumbre para debatir su plan de paz para Ucrania con los Estados árabes.
