El espacio que rodea la Tierra tiene cada vez más chatarra procedente de cohetes y satélites. Los expertos dicen que unas 1.200 piezas cayeron a la Tierra el año pasado, y miles más siguen volando.
Éstas pueden chocar entre sí y formar más piezas, lo que hace que el espacio sea aún más peligroso.
Francia es el país europeo con más chatarra en el espacio. Tiene más de 500 objetos antiguos y más de 100 satélites. Aunque Francia sigue las normas espaciales, sigue añadiendo más riesgo. El Reino Unido también tiene muchos satélites, pero casi nada de chatarra.
La Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA) también intenta mantener el espacio más limpio y está construyendo nuevas herramientas para limpiar el espacio. Pero eliminar la chatarra es difícil por problemas de dinero y leyes. Todos los países deben trabajar juntos y seguir las normas de seguridad espacial para resolver este problema.
