La escuela es muy cara en muchos países europeos. Los precios suben cada año. Los padres son los que más dinero pagan por los libros de texto. En España, los libros suponen más de la mitad de los gastos. En Italia, las familias compran nuevas ediciones y pagan aún más.
En Alemania, la escuela es muy cara. Un niño puede costar 3.600 euros al año. Los viajes escolares representan la mayor parte. En el Reino Unido, los padres gastan más de 2.600 euros. La comida es muy cara. Los bocadillos y las comidas cuestan mucho dinero, y los uniformes no son baratos.
En Francia, la escuela no es tan cara. Los padres pagan unos 211 euros al año. Los niños reciben libros de texto gratis, y cada familia recibe 450 euros del Estado. Esto ayuda a muchas familias.
