La ex estrella paralímpica sudafricana Oscar Pistorius ha quedado en libertad condicional casi 11 años después del asesinato de su novia Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius, conocido como el ‘Blade Runner‘ por sus piernas ortopédicas, disparó a Steenkamp el Día de San Valentín de 2013, alegando que la confundió con un intruso. Los repetidos recursos contra su condena se basaron en esta defensa. A pesar de pasar unos ocho años y medio en la cárcel y siete meses en arresto domiciliario, una junta concedió a Pistorius la libertad condicional en noviembre. La familia Steenkamp expresó su dolor, haciendo hincapié en la pérdida irremplazable de Reeva.
Pistorius se encuentra ahora en libertad condicional y debe ser vigilado hasta que concluya su condena en diciembre de 2029. Debe someterse a terapia de control de la ira y participar en sesiones sobre violencia de género como parte de sus condiciones de libertad condicional.
