La administración Biden ha iniciado un gran cambio en la forma de gestionar la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México.

Terminó una norma llamada Título 42 que agilizaba la devolución de muchos migrantes a través de la frontera a causa del COVID-19, y acaban de empezar nuevas normas para limitar el asilo. Esto causó confusión e incertidumbre, sobre todo porque muchos expertos pidieron a los tribunales que decidieran si las nuevas normas eran justas. A los funcionarios estadounidenses les preocupa que llegue mucha gente a la frontera, por lo que están observando atentamente para ver qué ocurre. El gobierno mexicano también ha dificultado los viajes dentro de su país, lo que dificulta las cosas a los migrantes. Les preocupa que los niños se separen de sus padres.
