Encontraron una tortuga con múltiples fracturas en el caparazón, lo que dificultaba su curación, pero gracias a la colaboración de un entusiasta de Lego, la tortuga recibió una silla de ruedas a medida.
El armazón de Lego se asienta sobre ruedas que ayudan a la tortuga a levantarse del suelo, y resina epoxi, alambre quirúrgico y masilla de fontanero lo mantienen todo en su sitio.
El zoo de Maryland ayudó a la Tortuga de Caja Oriental salvaje herida a recuperarse conservando su ritmo habitual de andar.
