En Italia, los socorristas son cada vez menos frecuentes.
A Daniel Gergaia, de 20 años, le encanta su trabajo de socorrista y se formó durante meses en el mar Adriático. Este año, hay un 10% de escasez de socorristas porque ahora la formación dura 100 horas en lugar de 30. El socorrismo es un trabajo serio con mucho riesgo. Rescatar a alguien de un ahogamiento es duro. Alberto Biagini empezó a trabajar en la playa hace 29 años. Dice que los socorristas jóvenes prefieren trabajar en piscinas porque es más fácil. Ayuda a sus colegas más jóvenes y dice que el socorrismo es algo más que disfrutar del sol.
El verano pasado, los socorristas de Rimini salvaron a 75 personas de morir ahogadas. Es más difícil encontrar nuevos socorristas porque los estudiantes tienen exámenes en verano. El trabajo es duro, pero a Daniel le gusta y dice que otros jóvenes deberían hacerlo también.
