Proyecto de tránsito de Irak – nivel 3

Irak ha puesto en marcha un proyecto de 17.000 millones de dólares denominado Carretera del Desarrollo, cuyo objetivo es conectar el puerto de Grand Faw, en el sur del país, rico en petróleo, con Turquía.
El proyecto pretende transformar Irak en un centro de tránsito, rivalizando con el Canal de Suez al acortar el tiempo de viaje entre Asia y Europa. La red de carreteras y ferrocarriles facilitaría la circulación de mercancías y pasajeros, incluidos trenes de alta velocidad. El puerto de Grand Faw, ya a medio terminar, desempeñaría un papel crucial en esta red de transporte.
El proyecto se anunció en una conferencia para atraer el interés árabe y posibles inversiones regionales. A pesar de las pasadas promesas de desarrollo en Irak, las infraestructuras siguen en mal estado. Sin embargo, los funcionarios confían en que la relativa estabilidad de los últimos tiempos pueda mantenerse para que el proyecto se ejecute con éxito.
