Irán y Estados Unidos intercambiarán prisioneros en breve, y también trasladarán 6.000 millones de dólares a bancos de Qatar.
En primer lugar, Irán excarceló a cuatro ciudadanos estadounidenses el 10 de agosto. El secretario de Estado estadounidense declaró que se trataba del inicio de un proceso para enviarlos a casa. Las personas liberadas son Siamak Namazi, de 51 años, Emad Sharqi, de 59 años, y Morad Tahbaz, de 67 años. Tahbaz también tiene nacionalidad británica. Estados Unidos no dijo quiénes eran las otras dos personas.
Qatar ayudó a Irán y a Estados Unidos a hablar e hizo posible el canje. Qatar también se asegurará de que Irán gaste el dinero de la manera correcta. Cuando Qatar reciba el dinero, dirá a Irán y a EEUU que liberen a los presos.
