Un accidente ferroviario en Odisha, India, causó al menos 288 muertos y 803 heridos.
El Coromandel Express chocó con un tren de mercancías parado y provocó que se saliera de las vías. Como consecuencia, los vagones del tren de mercancías chocaron contra dos vagones del Howrah Superfast Express, que viajaba en sentido contrario. Las autoridades prevén que el número de muertos aumente porque es probable que haya algunos cadáveres entre los escombros. Los equipos de rescate están buscando a más personas y utilizan perros rastreadores.
El primer ministro indio, Narendra Modi, prometió ayuda y ordenó una investigación sobre la causa del accidente.
