Las estrellas proceden de grandes nubes frías de gas y polvo. Las nubes son muy grandes y pesadas.

Las partes pequeñas se juntan y forman una estrella bebé. Esta estrella bebé se llama protoestrella. La estrella se calienta en su interior. Comienza un proceso especial llamado fusión. Esto hace que la estrella brille y viva mucho tiempo. Las estrellas pequeñas viven más que las grandes.

Cuando una estrella utiliza todo su combustible, cambia. Las estrellas grandes explotan. Envían su material al espacio. Este material forma planetas e incluso personas. Nuestros cuerpos tienen cosas como carbono y oxígeno. Un famoso científico, Carl Sagan, dice que venimos de las estrellas. Las estrellas forman parte de nosotros. Todos formamos parte del universo.
