Zhangjiagang es una ciudad de China que tiene una forma nueva e inteligente de gestionar los residuos domésticos. Ya no usa vertederos.

Ahora, un sistema informático controla la quema de los residuos en un edificio especial y cerrado. Esto genera electricidad y calor para hogares y fábricas. El lugar está muy limpio, y no hay olores ni basura en el suelo. Los residuos de cocina y los residuos domésticos se queman juntos, lo que genera más energía. La ciudad produce suficiente electricidad para 60 000 hogares cada año. Después de la quema, el resto de los residuos se envía a empresas que fabrican materiales de construcción. El calor de la quema ayuda a las pequeñas empresas de los alrededores. Los trabajadores manejan los residuos peligrosos de forma segura. El sistema utiliza los residuos para ayudar a la gente y proteger el medio ambiente.
