El argentino Lionel Messi ha sido elegido Jugador del Año de la FIFA para 2023, superando a Erling Haaland y Kylian Mbappe.
Aitana Bonmati, ganadora de la Copa del Mundo de España 2023, obtuvo el premio a la mejor jugadora femenina. Messi, pieza clave en la victoria del Inter de Miami en la Copa de la Liga, se trasladó a la MLS tras ganar el título de la Ligue 1 con el PSG. Haaland, con una temporada sobresaliente en el Manchester City, quedó segundo en el premio masculino. Pep Guardiola, entrenador del City, recibió el premio al Mejor Entrenador Masculino, y Sarina Wiegman, seleccionadora de Inglaterra, el de Mejor Entrenadora Femenina.
Ederson, del Manchester City, y Mary Earps, de Inglaterra, consiguieron los premios al Mejor Portero Masculino y a la Mejor Portera Femenina, respectivamente.
