El ex jefe de la Fórmula 1 Bernie Ecclestone no irá a la cárcel tras confesar que cometió fraude fiscal en el Reino Unido.
Admitió haber engañado a las autoridades fiscales británicas sobre bienes por valor de más de 492 millones de dólares. Ecclestone pagará un total de 803 millones de dólares en impuestos, intereses y sanciones por 18 ejercicios fiscales entre 1994 y 2022. En 2015 se declaró culpable de fraude por dar información falsa al negar ser beneficiario de varios fideicomisos, incluido uno que transfirió más de 500 millones de dólares a una cuenta bancaria de Singapur en 2010.
El juez le impuso una condena de 17 meses de prisión en suspenso, lo que significa que sólo cumpliría pena de cárcel si cometía otro delito en el plazo de dos años.
