En Reading (Reino Unido), un imponente infierno envolvió la obra de construcción de Station Hill, poniendo en peligro a un obrero atrapado.
El rápido operador de grúa Glen Edwards, de 65 años, lo rescató heroicamente bajando una jaula hasta el peligroso lugar. Los espectadores, atenazados por el miedo mientras las llamas y el humo se acercaban al trabajador, presenciaron la tensa operación. El proceso, aunque largo, culminó con el obrero aliviado llegando sano y salvo al suelo entre los aplausos de la multitud.
Glen Edwards recibió elogios del servicio de bomberos por su hábil manejo del difícil rescate. Dos personas fueron tratadas por inhalación de humo, pero no hubo más heridos a causa del incendio.
