Se declara un gran incendio en las instalaciones de Station Hill, en Reading (Reino Unido).
Un trabajador quedó atrapado en el tejado de un edificio. El pánico iba en aumento, pero Glen Edwards, un gruista de 65 años, bajó hábilmente una jaula hasta el trabajador en peligro. Los espectadores observaron cómo Edwards maniobraba la jaula hasta que por fin alcanzó la posición correcta. Finalmente, el trabajador atrapado subió a la jaula y, para alivio de los espectadores, se puso a salvo.
Los bomberos aplaudieron a Edwards por su extraordinario rescate. Dos hombres recibieron tratamiento por inhalación de humo, pero no se registraron más heridos en el incidente.
