Copenhague y el cambio climático – nivel 3

En respuesta a la inundación de 2011 que dejó Copenhague gravemente dañada, se han puesto en marcha más de 300 proyectos de adaptación climática en la capital de Dinamarca para protegerla de futuras inundaciones y condiciones meteorológicas extremas.
Estas iniciativas incluyen túneles subterráneos que llevarán el exceso de agua de lluvia al mar y la creación de espacios verdes que actúen como esponjas naturales para absorber el agua. La ciudad también se está preparando para la subida del nivel del mar y el aumento de las temperaturas plantando más árboles y desarrollando zonas verdes.
Los proyectos, que cuestan más de 2.000 millones de dólares, pretenden evitar futuras pérdidas económicas por fenómenos meteorológicos extremos. Se prevé que sean más frecuentes debido al cambio climático. Otras ciudades del mundo están observando los esfuerzos de Copenhague porque se enfrentan a retos similares.
