El maquillador de “Maestro”, la película biográfica de Leonard Bernstein protagonizada por Bradley Cooper, ha pedido disculpas por haber ofendido a algunas personas al ponerle al protagonista una nariz protésica.
El objetivo era lograr autenticidad al retratar a Bernstein, célebre director de orquesta y compositor estadounidense. Cuando se publicó el tráiler de la película, algunos críticos consideraron que la nariz reproducía estereotipos judíos. Los hijos adultos de Bernstein defendieron el maquillaje, subrayando que su padre tenía una nariz característica. Cooper, que dirigió, produjo, coescribió y protagoniza la película, no pudo asistir al estreno en Venecia debido a una huelga de actores de Hollywood. Su diseñador de maquillaje, Kazu Hiro, se mostró sorprendido por las críticas y pidió disculpas por herir los sentimientos de la gente, subrayando que su objetivo era respetar y amar el aspecto icónico de Bernstein.
La película centrada en la vida y las relaciones de Bernstein estará disponible en Netflix a partir del 20 de diciembre.
