Tres empresas de cigarrillos, Philip Morris, British American Tobacco y Japan Tobacco, pagarán 23.600 millones de dólares para acabar con un gran problema en Canadá.
La gente demanda a las empresas. No dicen a la gente que fumar es peligroso. Pero desde los años 50, todo el mundo sabe que fumar provoca cáncer. Un tribunal de Quebec dice que las empresas deben pagar 15.000 millones de dólares a los fumadores. Sus oficinas canadienses piden ayuda. No tienen tanto dinero. Desde 2019, las empresas hablan de cómo pagar. Pero todavía no saben cómo repartir el dinero entre ellas. Lo decidirán en diciembre de 2024.
