Un asteroide gigante sorprendió a los científicos que descubrieron que tenía anillos.
El asteroide tiene 250 kilómetros de ancho. Es el objeto más pequeño conocido que tiene tales anillos. La gente solía pensar que los anillos sólo existen alrededor de planetas grandes como Saturno o Neptuno.
Los científicos observaron los anillos cuando el asteroide se movió delante de la estrella. Proyectó una sombra sobre América del Sur. No sabemos cómo se forman los anillos. Una teoría dice que los anillos están formados por hielo, pequeñas piedras y otros restos.
