Se produjo un impactante incidente cuando un avión con destino a Japón perdió una rueda durante el despegue. United Airlines desvió el vuelo al aeropuerto internacional de Los Ángeles.
El neumático que cayó dañó los coches del aparcamiento del aeropuerto de San Francisco. Afortunadamente, el Boeing 777-200 aterrizó sin novedad en el aeropuerto de Los Ángeles, y no hubo heridos entre los pasajeros y la tripulación. United Airlines preparó otro avión para los pasajeros.
