El FBI ha dado el nombre del pistolero que intentó asesinar al ex presidente estadounidense Donald Trump. El sospechoso, Thomas Matthew Crooks, de 20 años, fue abatido por el Servicio Secreto.
El incidente se produjo durante un mitin en Pensilvania en el que Trump se dirigía a una gran multitud. Se oyeron disparos, y se vio a Trump sangrando por la oreja derecha, aunque no resultó herido de gravedad. El ataque también causó la muerte de un espectador e hirió de gravedad a otros dos. El agente especial del FBI Kevin Roek confirmó que lo están tratando como un intento de asesinato.
El presidente Biden condenó el atentado, lo calificó de enfermizo y declaró que no hay lugar para semejante violencia en Estados Unidos. El FBI, junto con la policía estatal y local, está investigando activamente el móvil de Crooks. El Servicio Secreto emitió un comunicado en el que detallaba cómo el pistolero disparó desde una posición elevada y fue neutralizado posteriormente. Trump tiene previsto asistir a la Convención Nacional Republicana como estaba previsto.
