Un avión volaba de Londres a Singapur, pero tuvo que aterrizar en Bangkok debido a fuertes turbulencias.
El Boeing 777 chocó contra una bolsa de aire en el espacio aéreo tailandés. Una bolsa de aire es una zona en la que el aire fluye de forma diferente. Un británico de 73 años murió, probablemente de un ataque al corazón. Treinta personas resultaron heridas, y siete se encontraban en estado grave. Muchos pasajeros recibieron tratamiento en el aeropuerto, inmediatamente después del aterrizaje. Un pasajero dijo que las turbulencias eran muy fuertes. Vio objetos volando y personas heridas.
