La persistente inestabilidad mundial se atribuye a factores como la actual guerra de Rusia en Ucrania, las acciones de Israel tras el atentado del 7 de octubre, las batallas por poderes en Oriente Próximo, el estancamiento de las conversaciones sobre control de armas nucleares, los insuficientes avances en materia de cambio climático y los crecientes riesgos asociados a la inteligencia artificial y las tecnologías emergentes. La Junta de Científicos Atómicos subraya que la situación no está mejorando en comparación con el año anterior.
La posibilidad de que Estados Unidos se vea arrastrado a una guerra en la que participen Israel y otros países de Oriente Medio, el cambio climático, las temperaturas récord y los retos que plantea la inteligencia artificial son preocupaciones fundamentales. La Junta insta a los líderes mundiales a tomar medidas más decisivas para hacer frente a estas amenazas.
