Suiza celebró recientemente una votación nacional y dijo claramente no a dos importantes propuestas.
La primera propuesta pretendía hacer obligatorio el servicio nacional (militar o civil) para las mujeres, pero obtuvo muy poco apoyo. Los partidarios argumentaron que mejoraría la seguridad y la igualdad de género, pero los oponentes se preocuparon por los elevados costes y los problemas adicionales para las mujeres que ya realizan tareas de cuidado no remuneradas.
La segunda propuesta era un nuevo impuesto sobre las herencias y donaciones superiores a 50 millones de francos para pagar la protección del clima. La gente también rechazó esta idea. Algunos advirtieron de que el impuesto haría que Suiza fuera menos atractiva para los ricos y las grandes empresas, lo que provocaría que el dinero se fuera del país.
