La FIFA otorgará un nuevo Premio de la Paz cada año. Alguien recibirá el primer premio en Washington, DC, el mes que viene.

El presidente de la FIFA, Gianni Infantino, dijo que el premio honrará a las personas que hagan cosas especiales para apoyar la paz. No dijo quién recibiría el premio. Este premio forma parte del plan de la FIFA para demostrar que el fútbol puede unir a la gente y dar esperanza. Infantino es amigo del presidente estadounidense Donald Trump, por lo que algunas personas piensan que Trump podría recibir el premio porque quería el Premio Nobel de la Paz. Pero la FIFA afirma que el deporte y la política deben permanecer separados.

El premio se anunciará durante el sorteo del Mundial, el 5 de diciembre. A muchos aficionados les hace gracia, pero a algunos les gusta la idea de relacionar el fútbol con la paz.
