Científicos de la Universidad Flinders de Australia están probando nuevos trajes de neopreno que ayudan a proteger a las personas de las mordeduras de tiburón. Estos trajes de neopreno utilizan materiales muy resistentes, que hacen que las heridas sean más pequeñas y ayudan a que las personas pierdan menos sangre.
Los ataques de tiburón no ocurren a menudo, pero pueden matar a la gente. Los trajes no pueden detener todas las lesiones, pero pueden hacer que las mordeduras de tiburón sean menos peligrosas. Los científicos prueban los trajes con tiburones blancos y tigre. Comprueban que los nuevos materiales funcionan mejor que los trajes de neopreno normales.
Los viejos trajes metálicos son demasiado pesados y difíciles de llevar, así que el equipo quiere hacer trajes nuevos que sean más suaves y fáciles de usar para los surfistas, pero que sigan siendo muy resistentes.
