Andrej Babiš, empresario multimillonario y ex primer ministro checo, ha llevado a su movimiento político ANO (que significa ‘Sí‘) a la victoria en las elecciones parlamentarias checas, obteniendo el 34,6% de los votos.
Su éxito pone fin al gobierno de la coalición prooccidental del primer ministro Petr Fiala, que obtuvo el 23,3%.
Para formar un nuevo gobierno, Babiš tendrá que cooperar con otro partido, posiblemente el grupo Libertad y Democracia Directa o el partido Motoristas por Sí Mismos. Conocido por su postura crítica hacia la Unión Europea, Babiš se ha unido a los líderes húngaros y eslovacos para oponerse a las sanciones de la UE a Rusia y limitar la ayuda militar a Ucrania. También ha expresado sus dudas sobre el aumento del gasto en defensa en virtud de los compromisos de la OTAN.
La campaña de Babiš se centró en preocupaciones internas como el abaratamiento de la energía, la subida de las pensiones y la prioridad de los intereses checos sobre los asuntos exteriores. Su victoria señala un cambio en la política checa hacia políticas más nacionalistas y euroescépticas.
